ADVENT RESOURCES
Intro To Liturgy - Borrowed from our brothers and sisters at Village Church in Texas, this introduction to the Church Calendar is easy to read and pretty to look at.

Sacred Ordinary Days - A planner that helps "everyday Christians" cultivate the peace, presence, and purpose of our faith every day. The simple tools inside have served followers for centuries and proved helpful for our staff in 2020. Great for fans of reflection, spiritual formation, and journaling/list-making. If you would like financial assistance for this year-long resource, please let Heather know you are interested.
Daily Prayer App - Similar to the planner above, this app is an ad-free prayer guide designed to develop long lasting spiritual rhythms of prayer and scripture reading.

The Best Gift Ever Given - This book is a 25-day discovery journey that helps your child understand the real meaning of Christmas. Is packed full of scripture, interactive questions, and a modern take on leading your family deeper into appreciation for God's goodness in a season all about gratitude.
Jesus Came For Me: The True Story Of Christmas - Help your little one know that Jesus is always present, and he helps us believe and wait for him. A board book by Jared Kennedy & Trish Mahoney for children ages three to five, with compelling content and modern, vivid illustrations that begins with the announcement of John the Baptist’s birth to Zechariah and ends with the visit of the wise men. If you would like financial assistance for this children's book, please let Heather know you are interested.

Advent App - This unique app helps you create a digital Advent calendar to share with the ones you love. Photos, bible verses, quotes and more can be stuffed into the daily surprises as we mark down the days in anticipation for Christmas.

Musical Advent Calendar App - Similar to the app above, this digital Advent calendar provides users with a piece of classical Christmas music every day.

Sacred Ordinary Days Advent Playlist - Music fills our homes in such a invisible yet physical way. The songs we consume in this season can lift us to enjoyment of Christ. Sacred Ordinary Days has put together a playlist to bring our joy and anticipation in Jesus to the forefront. If you have songs you think would be great for an Advent playlist, please share them with Matt on our staff who runs a record label and curates music on the side. He hopes to create our own Advent playlist for 2021!

Handel: Messiah - While not specific to Advent, this piece of music comes highly recommended from our staff and members who enjoy the opera. This particular recording was made right here in Cleveland by some of the world's finest (who happen to be our neighbors and friends).

Biola University - Advent calendars come in all shapes and sizes but what they have in common is a daily rhythm of anticipatory reflection. Biola's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts offers a FREE online Advent Project designed to help you pause each day to reflect on the beauty and meaning of the season.
The 2020 Advent Project starts on the first day of Advent, November 29, 2020, and continues through Epiphany, January 6, 2021. Each day of the Advent Project features a Scripture passage, a devotion written by a member of the Biola community, a work of visual art, a poem, and a piece of music. Their prayer is that in the midst of these challenging times, the Advent Project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery, and miracle of the Word made flesh.

Desiring God: Good News of Great Joy - John Piper, theologian and pastor from Minnesota, has created a web-based 25-day journey of meditations for Advent. His goal: for Christians to see Christ in all his fullness and to love what they see with a love far beyond half-hearted human capacities — but rather a love made possible by the Holy Spirit. If you enjoy the Advent season, this devotional continues on throughout the year as Solid Joy.
The Dawning of Indestructible Joy - Advent is for adoring Jesus. This is a great physical resource for anyone interested in unplugging for a moment during the Christmas hustle and bustle. Brief daily readings help to deepen and sweeten our Christmas season as we learn to behold the beautiful miracle before us.
The Jesse Tree Ornament Craft Kit - This free resource pairs the Gospel story with Christmas tree trimming. Enjoy a print-and-color paper ornament each day as you read about the God's big plan and ponder your role in his greatness. If you don't have access to a printer, we encourage you to contact your local library where you free prints every day or you can contact Heather on our church staff.
