FALL SMALL GROUPS

Phase 1 – Week 5

Committed to Prayer

  1. Take a few minutes to greet and introduce everyone.

  2. Commit the group time to prayer. Specifically pray for a renewed urgency in the importance of prayer.

  3. Watch the video.

  4. Read Ephesians 3:14-21.

  5. Nurturing our Head, Heart, and Hands Questions (Outcome #1):

Nurturing our Head, Heart, and Hands Questions (Outcome #1): In this passage we see Paul listing out the specific things he is praying for in regard to the Ephesians. At the heart of his prayer is that the Ephesians would be strengthened in the power of the Spirit. The Spirit is given to us, not as an end, but as a means to an end. This is why Paul follows verse 16 with “so that.”

    a. What are the specific things that Paul is praying would result from being strengthened in the power of the Spirit?

    b. How closely do your prayers compare to Paul’s in this passage? Are there things you could change about the way you pray?

  6. Hearing the Voices of Members Questions (Outcome #2):

The list of things that Paul prays for are clear, but they are also broad. Let’s consider how these things could be practically evident in the life of City Church.

    a. What are practical ways we can pray more together for the things Paul is praying for in this passage?

    b. What would be visible evidences in the life of City Church that the things Paul is praying for are being answered? For example, what would it practically look like for us to mature in our knowledge of “the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.”

  7. Take a few moments to individually submit your answers to the Members’ Voice questions.

  8. Close in prayer.
