Theologian-in-Residence
Paul serves as City Church’s Theologian in Residence where he works to cultivate thoughtful and engaged formation in the image of Christ.
Paul received a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Texas Baptist College, an M.Div. with concentrations in Christian Ethics and Biblical Languages, and a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics and Biblical Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his role at City, Paul serves as Provost of Emmaus Theological Seminary, where he teaches Christian Ethics and Biblical Theology. His primary interests include Christian ethics with an affinity towards Christian virtue theory, biblical theology, and higher education. Paul is also a fellow of The Center for Pastor Theologians.
A native Texan, Paul was raised in the church, and came to faith at a young age. He and his wife Sarah moved to Cleveland in 2015 to revitalize a dying church, and the Land has been home ever since. Paul is an avid Browns fan, a lover of apple pie with black coffee, and enjoys working with his hands. Paul and Sarah live a stone’s throw from the church with their daughter and a (small) farm’s worth of animals.
